A Tribute to Three ARTS Biblical Counseling Lecturers

Dr. George Scipione, Dr. Larry Dozier, and Dr. Bob Borger, three frequent visiting lecturers in Biblical Counseling and long-time friends of ARTS, were called home to the Lord in 2020. Dr. Scipione passed on January 23, and Dr. Dozier on June 17. Dr. Bob Borger retired after teaching in February 2020.

ARTS is grateful for the years of service of these three fine lecturers and their contributions to the two ARTS Biblical Counseling programs: Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling and Master of Arts in Theological Studies (Biblical Counseling Emphasis).

Dr. Scipione taught courses including Counseling and Lay Counselor Training in the Local Church I and II, Counseling Theory, Readings in Biblical Counseling, Biblical Parenting, and Case Studies in Biblical Counseling. Dr. Dozier taught Using the Bible in Counseling, Counseling and Lay Counselor Training in the Local Church I, A Biblical Approach to Addictions, Advanced Biblical Counseling, and Understanding and Evaluating Professional Literature.

Dr. Borger’s two courses, Advanced Marriage and Family Counseling and Premarital Counseling, are also requirements for the MDiv program. These men have exhibited great understanding and skill in teaching their courses, as well as a vibrant love for students. ARTS will certainly miss their teaching ministries.
